FERRALERT HALO™ PRESCREEN is a highly sensitive unit that detects VERY SMALL ferrous objects, down to the size of a hairpin or single staple. The recommended placement for this device is in the patients' screening or locker-room area, away from the magnet room. This product helps to increase patient throughput and to avoid potential image artifacts.

When the GREEN HALO array of READY indicator lights located in the vertical columns of the portal are illuminated (ON), the system is ready for detection of ferromagnetic objects.

With the GREEN READY indicator lights ON, pass thru the portal. If a ferromagnetic object is detected, an AUDIO ALARM will sound, the GREEN READY HALO indicator lights will extinguish and the AMBER LOCATION indicator lights will illuminate.

The location of the ferromagnetic object in the Sensor Portal is indicated by the illumination of the group of 4 or more amber LEDs closest to the ferrous object. For example, as shown in the picture to the right, if the second from the top, left and right groups of LEDs (amber) are activated, the ferromagnetic object is near the center of the portal at head level. If multiple groups amber LEDs are illuminated, a number of sensors have been activated.
