FERRALERT HALO™ ENTRY reduces the risk of ferromagnetic projectiles from entering the MRI magnet. The device is installed unobtrusively at the approach to the MR magnet room, (between Zones II and III of the ACR recommendations), or at the magnet room doorway. This product helps a great deal to protect investment in the magnet and to avoid a catastrophic accident, usually caused by large ferrous projectiles.

When the GREEN HALO array of READY indicator lights located in the vertical columns of the portal are illuminated (ON), the system is ready for detection of ferrous objects.

With the GREEN READY indicator lights ON, pass thru the portal. If a ferromagnetic object is detected, an AUDIO ALARM will sound (at the portal and operator’s display module), the GREEN READY HALO indicator lights will extinguish and the AMBER LOCATION indicator lights will illuminate.

The location of the ferromagnetic object in the Sensor Portal is indicated by the illumination of the group of 4 or more amber LEDs closest to the ferrous object. For example, if the bottom left AMBER LEDs are activated, the object is near the floor on the left side. If multiple groups of amber LEDs are illuminated, a number of sensors have been activated.

The NIGHT ALARM switch should be turned ON when there are no MR personnel present.
