Press Release on our scientific paper presented at SMIT 2006

Kopp Development Inc., a developer of next-generation ferromagnetic detectors for MRI Safety, proudly announced today the presentation of a scientific paper at the Symposium on MRI Safety that was conducted at the Society for Medical Innovation and Technology (SMIT) 2006 international conference. Leading experts from all over the world attended this conference, which presented an extraordinary opportunity for the discussion of the latest technological advances and innovative applications for MRI safety.

Mr. Keith Kopp, the company’s president, made a presentation entitled “Impact of Ferromagnetic Detection on MRI Safety”. This presentation used a variety of sources to indicate an increasing threat of ferromagnetic projectiles in the MRI environment.

“Recent information has indicated that ferromagnetic projectiles are a significant, if not the most significant, cause of serious injuries…Ferromagnetic detection systems, when used to supplement an existing screening procedure, have the potential of significantly reducing the risk of a projectile incident.” (From an Abstract)
